To familiarize yourself with the website's features, I recommend accessing it from a computer during your first visits.

Support the Site Link: I want to encourage homeschool moms to use this platform for connection and support, that is why I made the decision to move away from a subscription fee and make HomeschoolMomsConnect.com core features free for all members.
If you find value in the site, please consider making a donation. Your support helps keep the site ad-light, preserving a cleaner, more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Donations go towards development, hosting, content creation, marketing, giveaways and supporting the time and effort I personally put into running and maintaining the site behind the scenes. Even a small contribution can make a big difference!

Thank you for your support!!

Please note, Homeschool Moms Connect LLC is not a registered nonprofit organization, so donations are not tax deductible

Community Standards: This platform is designed to be a safe and inclusive space for everyone. Please refrain from hate speech, derogatory comments, selling or soliciting. Failure to adhere to these standards will result in removal without a refund. You can block and report any members who are not following these standards.

Set Up/Edit Your Profile: During registration, you will select a username and profile picture. You can edit your profile details or change your profile picture via the drop-down menu. All profiles will be reviewed and approved, so please allow up to 48 hours for approval.
Make sure to keep your profile up to date from year to year.

About Me: In this section, share a brief summary about yourself as a homeschool mom, including your homeschooling approach, interests, and what you're looking for in a match. This is a chance to add a personal touch to your profile, beyond the general questions you’ve already answered. Please remember to avoid including personal details such as full names or contact information. Whenever this section is changed/updated, it will trigger reapproval from Admin.

Take the Quiz: After filling out your profile, you can take the quiz. Your answers are private, but other members will be able to see if you matched answers.

Search for Connections: Use the search tool to explore who else is in the community. Default results will show the 12 newest members upon login. Select 'more options' to filter your search and see up to 56 results at a time or click 'show more' at the bottom of the results page.

Messaging: If you find a match, take a look at their profile and review what you matched with on the quiz.

When you are ready, send a message. A great opening question is “ What made you decide to homeschool?” It’s up to the other person to respond, and if for whatever reason they don’t, feel free to keep searching. You can continue to get to know one another over messaging until you are ready for a video call (additional fee). I highly recommend doing a video call through the platform before sharing personal information or arranging in-person meetups to ensure everyone’s safety.

Video Chat: You can use the video chat feature to connect with another member on this site This is a great way to get to know someone before planning a local meet up or sharing contact information. Video chat is available for an additional 5 dollar per month, billed as a one-time monthly fee. This helps cover the extra costs incurred each time the feature is used. Only one member needs to subscribe to start a video chat.

  1. Both members need to be online at the same time – The video chat feature is only available when both users are actively online.
  2. Chat icon appears – Once both users are online, the chat icon will show up on the profile page, located in the same row as the 'Add Favorites' and 'Add Friends' buttons.
  3. Click the chat icon – By clicking on the chat icon, a video chat window will open, allowing the two users to start the video chat.

Add Friend: Add any matches, friends or mentors to your list for easy searchability.

Matched Status: Once you’ve connected with someone, you can mark your profile as “matched”. That way you can still enjoy the other benefits of membership. If you prefer to keep this off and find more matches, that is perfectly fine too!

If you are searching and come across a profile labeled “Matched”, it means this member is no longer seeking a connection.

Alternate option is to set your profile to 'invisible'. You can find this option under 'My Info'.

Be a Mentor: Would you be interested in giving back to the homeschool community by mentoring other homeschool moms? This feature lets other moms know that they can reach out to you with any questions related to homeschool that they may have. You can select “mentor” to be displayed on your profile and have the ability turn this off at any time.

This role is intended as a resource rather than a commitment to a long-term friendship.

Find a Mentor: Would you like to be connected to an experienced homeschool mom to bounce questions off? Use the search feature to find members that chose to be a mentor. Tip: choose a mentor that lives in the same state and has a similar homeschooling style.

When reaching out, please make note that your message is for mentoring purposes and try to be as concise as possible to not overwhelm our wonderful mentors.

You can also use this feature if you opted to be a mentor. If you have a question, try reaching out to a mom who has more years of homeschooling experience than you.

My Matching Preferences: You can find this under the 'My Info' page, where you can modify your preferences to help the site personalize its matching recommendations for you.

Get Verified: Verification is optional but it does help build trust with other members and prevent fake profiles. Once your documents are verified, a blue check will appear on your profile page. Uploaded documents will be removed from the server after they are verified.

Community Suggestions: This section is for sharing your favorite recommendations on various topics with the community. For posting guidelines, please refer to the Community Suggestions page.

Resource Page: This page is dedicated to sharing local to Minnesota or Virtual homeschooling resources, including co-ops, microschools, tutors, and more. Posting guidelines can be found at the top of the page.

Mindset Tools: Explore this section for helpful tools, including meditations and journal prompts, to support you on your homeschool journey. Use whatever resonates with you!
